Meet the Power Couple Dr. Tahira Adnan & Kanwar Adnan Umar – The Masterminds behind Little Venice

Tell us who you are?

We are a team of Husband and wife. I am Dr. Tahira Adnan. I am a doctor by background and graduate of Army Medical College Rawalpindi. I am currently working as a consultant physician in Acute Medicine in North West of London United Kingdom. My Husband Kanwar Adnan Umar, MBA in Marketing, Banker by background has been attached to the coffee trade for the last 22 years in the united Kingdom with different Brands .

How did you get your idea or concept for the business?

We were already running coffee shops and Restaurant in UK. Pakistan is our Mother land and we decided to do a venture in Pakistan as well more suited to the Pakistani environment. When we last visited Karachi, there very few quality places offering coffee hence we saw a gap in the market and decided to bring Little Venice to Karachi.

What was your mission at the time of starting it?

Our main mission is to provide high quality service to our customers and a brilliant coffee experience in an environment which suits everyone in the beautiful area of Malir Cantt.

What service(s) or product(s) do you offer/manufacture?

We offer High Quality Coffee, Frappe, hot chocolate, Ice creams, cakes, pastries, bread pizza and much more at Little Venice. Its a menu which will suit every pallet.

How do you advertise your business?

We have not done any advertising as of yet but will be looking at digital and print media for our campaigns.

What is unique about your business?

As we are a food business, quality is paramount. Our coffee Bean quality is of a very high grade especially imported from Ethiopia and roasted in the United kingdom. All our Baritas have extensive experience plus the Building itself is one of its kind in Pakistan. The Ambience of our shop speaks for itself . All recipes are home made and we ensure the highest quality of ingredients in all drinks and Dishes.

What are your responsibilities as the business owner?

We ensure smooth operations plus our customers are our number one priority. We do random checks on our food products and suppliers where possible to ensure only pure ingredients are used in all our food and drinks. We also have a tree planting initiative running where we plant a tree for every 500 coffees sold. By the end of every year we can proudly say that we planted more than 200 trees in Karachi.

What are your other interests in life?

I Love Reading, Photography, spending time with my family and cooking. My Husband is a cricket fan and follows both English and Pakistani Teams.

Where do you envision yourself from 10 years from now?

Happy ,Healthy and with Little Venice all over Pakistan . Creating employment opportunities and helping a greener Pakistan.

What two or three accomplishments that have given you the most satisfaction? Why?

Having a happy and healthy peaceful family is our biggest accomplishment by the Grace of Allah SBT. We both come from to very simple and humble backgrounds and yet have made a name for ourselves in United Kingdom only with sheer handwork and determination.
